Rotary Encoders also known as shaft encoders, are electro-mechanical devices that convert the angular position or motion of a shaft or axle to an analogue or cigital code. A Linear Encoder is a sensor, transducer or read head paired with a scale that encodes position. The sensor reads the scale to convert the encoded position into an analogue or digital signal.
