Philips

Established in 1891, the Dutch company Philips has been revolutionising the world since its foundation. Inspired by promising results and a rapidly expanding electricity industry, Philips was born. Their main objective? To bring reliable light bulbs to everyone who needed them for an affordable price. Since then, Philips kept improving the lives of people, with a steady flow of innovations. Innovation and diversification are two things Philips stands for. In 1918 they introduced a medical X-ray, as proof for their diversification. In the following years Philips produced many different products, like shavers, radios and televisions. When in 1982, Philips developed the Compact disc, together with Sony, a product that would revolutionise the world was born. In 2002 the hard decision was made to focus on health and well-being and sell the other parts of the company. This way Philips could focus on innovation and improve hospital’s workflow and patient care by integrating architecture, design, dynamic lighting and sound.
