Refurbished Parts

Geleen, 19 October 2017And yet again we have come to an end of the series the new vitech international BV. This week’s blog will be about our stock, our refurbished stock in particular. We want to elucidate the pros and cons of a refurbished part, by explaining what refurbished exactly is. So hopefully at the end of this blog, you’ve gained some understanding of why we give you the opportunity to choose for a refurbished part.

What is refurbished?

Refurbished is a popular word, many companies try to sell you refurbished parts. For example, refurbished iPhones, refurbished computers or even refurbished office supply. But does refurbished exactly mean, and why should you even consider buying it. Refurbished literally means: to repair and clean equipment so that its condition is like new. The main difference between refurbished and used products is, that refurbished products are fully tested, repaired and checked to make sure that they function the way they should and are therefore free of any defects.

Why refurbished?

So why should you choose for a refurbished product instead of a new one? Well, there are numerous reasons. The first one being the price. Generally speaking, refurbished parts are up to 20% cheaper than new ones, while still having the same quality as new ones. So the first benefit is financial. The second benefit is the contribution to corporate social responsibility. When buying refurbished instead of new, you are giving discarded products a second chance. Via this way, you are saving in energy and reducing toxic waste, air pollution and global warming.

So what are the cons of refurbished parts?

Refurbished parts often have tiny signs of use, like little scratches and/or discolouration. The question is, do you really mind buying a part with signs of usage on them? Does it have any effects on your operation? As you could imagine the stock of refurbished parts is limited. Not every brand or model supports refurbished products and refurbished products could be outdated. This is due to the fact that the newest models and versions are often not offered refurbished, simply because there aren’t any used products available.

Hopefully, you are now fully aware of the pros of buying refurbished parts. This was the last blog of the series the new Vitech international BV. Next week we will have a blog about the productronica fair of which Vitech international was part of.
