Orbotech

In 1981 Optrotech was established by a team of engineers. They started developing electro-optical systems for military use. But soon they saw commercial use as well. In 1992 the actual Orbotech was formed by a merger between Oprotech & Orbot. This conglomeration was able to capture 70 percent of the AOI market. The following years Orbotech kept growing by diversification and acquisitions like the joint venture with Jenoptik AG. In 1999 Orobotech acquired KLA Acrotec, which was specialised in LCD’s. This acquisition enabled Orbotech to develop a leading position in the LCD Inception market.
